Armadillos

Nine Banded Armadillos

Armadillos always have quads and they are always the same sex. This is the result of one egg dividing into four separate eggs! They can dig multiple burrows up to 15 feet deep. Armadillos eat grubs, mole crickets, and earthworms; uprooting lawns, golf courses, flower beds, and gardens in the process. Their burrowing has been known to cause damage to foundations, driveways and other structures. Armadillos are known to keep people awake at night by rubbing their armor-plated bodies against houses and other structures. Armadillos are known to be infected with the bacterium mycobacterium leprae ( the active agent of human leprosy). The bacterium is carried in the bloodstream so shooting isn’t the best option in ridding oneself of armadillos.
